Assisting High Performing Students at VIT

Recently a group of high performing MBA students at the Victorian Institute of Technology, Adelaide campus were honoured with inclusion in the Dean’s List.

Following the release of final grades, four of these students approached me for assistance with job seeking. All have qualified for temporary graduate visas, giving them the right to take on fulltime employment, and to progress towards permanent residency.

Manisha Tandon already has experience in human resource management, and wants to develop her career further in this field. Daxesh Patel has a strong interest in travel, and is looking for opportunities in the tourism sector. A role in front of house management in a hotel is the ambition of Amandeep Kaur, whereas Manpreet Kaur wants to further her career in restaurant management. Manpreet already has two years of experience? managing a SubWay restaurant.

At the outset of our discussions, I have encouraged them all to upgrade their LinkedIn profiles with the inclusion of resumes, academic transcripts, and the publication of articles outlining their personal career ambitions.

Once these are in place, my plan is to tutor them in job hunting skills based around a systematic “door knocking” approach.? I will draw their attention to the article that I published in my own LinkedIn profile some six years ago, ?This story demonstrates the benefits form changing? strategieshttps://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/students-seeking-suitable-jobs-dr-paul-szuster/?trackingId=aInbC0ohScymgC%2F%2FY3qewg%3D%3D

I look forward to posting details soon about the effectiveness of this current campaign.
