Description:
The Department of Cancer Biology and Pharmacology of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) is now inviting applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor level positions to expand its research programs in cancer biology and in neuroscience. Early career investigators with outstanding training and a strong track record of scholarly productivity in cancer research or neuroscience, with an uncompromised commitment to a culture that is conducive to collaborative interdisciplinary research and to the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion, and a genuine interest in contributing to the educational mission of the medical school are highly encouraged to apply.?Special interest will be given to candidates who in addition to a solid track record of scholarly work in cancer or neuroscience will have training in bioinformatics and/or immunology. The selected candidate will be expected to develop a vibrant and highly interactive research program, to aggressively seek federal funding, and to teach our medical students.
UICOMP is one of the regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine and is part of a 900-bed hospital district containing two major hospital systems as well as the medical school. UICOMP’s educational programs include 260 medical students over four years and 25 post-graduate programs with over 300 residents and fellows.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., M.D./Ph.D. or D.V.M./Ph.D in basic/translational research in a field of health science and/or computer science or computational biology, with at least 3 years of postdoctoral training in cancer research, neuroscience, bioinformatics, computational biology, or systems biology, and a solid record of scholarly productivity, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, fellowship and grant awards, and participation in national and international conferences.
