?The Opportunity
WSDOT Southwest Region Traffic Management Center is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 3 to serve as an Assistant Corridor Operations Engineer in Vancouver, WA. This is a senior level engineer position responsible for the real time operation of WSDOT and partner agency transportation systems. This position requires diversified and highly technical knowledge of advanced operations principles in Traffic Signals, Ramp Meters, Advanced Traffic Management (ATM) Systems, Variable Message Signs (VMS), Peak Use Shoulder Lanes, and Incident Response Teams.
?As the Assistant Corridor Operations Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact with field personnel and local agencies during a freeway or arterial emergency. This position uses highly technical knowledge to apply enhanced technology and operational strategies to maximize the efficient operation of these systems in a real time environment This position is crucial to actively operate the transportation network, utilizing both freeway management and traffic signal system tools, and will devise real time actions and plans for these systems based on observed field conditions.?The top candidate will be a safety-minded individual, with a high level of independent judgement and decision making.
?What to Expect
Core business hours for this position are Friday 5:00 am to 3:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am, to 6:00 pm and Monday from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:

This is a Transportation Engineer 3 (TE3) position. However, the hiring manager reserves the right to fill the position at a lower level, (TE2 or TE1) depending on qualifications, providing an opportunity for an individual to gain the required experience on the job as part of a formal “in-training” plan.
