The Assist List Jodie's Spotlight News #4

"Doing is the game. If you’re not doing, nothing’s happening". - Gary Vaynerchuk

I love this quote, it reminds me that my dreams, thoughts and aspirations are only a dream or a thought unless I do something to make them real.

Take a step…one task at a time - get it done.

Last month I mentioned that The Crodie Files Podcast recorded a LIVE episode “Elevate & Automate” at The PA Show London – It is out now on all podcast platforms and to watch on YouTube.

What an amazing response we have had so far!

Personal branding for any assistant or business support professional is a hot topic!

Yes, it is for us, it works, and it is not showing off. Check out a recent post from yours truly with a clip from Elevate & Automate here.

I was so grateful to have been able to share the stage with Amelia Sordell Personal branding strategist, speaker, advisor, and founder of Klowt and the super talented Amy Lester- VA, EA, Coach and Mentor as well as the founder of Typing & Tasks, who gave this episode the lightbulb moment we had all been waiting for on personal branding and generative AI for assistants and how it free’s up our time!

Generative AI and prompts!

I have seen many posts on LinkedIn recently that are questioning if the administrative assistant will become lazy….

"NEVER!” I hear you say but the use of AI-generated answers and posts is on the rise. But it will be, it is super easy to get creative now with ChatGPT, Gemini and even Canva can create AI-generated text and copy for you.

It is super important to keep up with your prompt writing or “crafting” skills as the experts call it.

So no, in my view, it will not make the administrative assistant ”lazy” but I do think it could entice “lazy” or time-strapped (for want of a better word) assistants to lose sight of authenticity.

If you are not learning from the output of writing prompts and solely rely on it to save time, will it help your “H.I” – Human Intelligence?

Studies have now shown that the use of excessive AI can lead to a decline in memory retention!

Food for thought and one for the learning and development geeks like me to ponder on a bit more.

Are you a job seeker or maybe you have older kids at home who write essays? Job seekers are telling me they are finding it harder and harder to get their resume or CV noticed.

One of the reasons could be that some recruiters use keyword-searching software (ATS -applicant tracking systems). This can also detect the overuse of AI-written CVs and they get filtered out.

If we have anyone who is an expert with recruitment software, do shed some more light on this for me by dropping me a DM.

Students/school-age children – AI answers on schoolwork we know is already being bounced back, requesting original work be submitted, so how can you help your children with;

1) using generative AI and staying current

2) not losing their “H.I – Human intelligence?

I had this very question come up in a mentoring session and I sourced a recommended tool.

Check out Undetectable AI, rated #1 Best AI Detector by Forbes! You can check if your text will be flagged as AI-written content. You can then 'humanize' to remove AI detection and ensure your text will bypass all major AI detectors. Here is my referral link to get you started

Overall – use it to learn how to write and structure, not replace your ability to do it for yourself.

If you are new to generative AI - here is a FREE prompt for you to learn more

Type the following Prompt into ChatGPT: Generate a beginner’s guide to using ChatGPT, organized into sections. Start with a section describing how language models work. Next, include sections about using ChatGPT in daily life. Include the FAQ section at the end.

Love this, Jodie, While AI overuse might affect memory, for neurodivergent folks it can be a fear-facing tool. Learning from AI can help us avoid over-reliance too.
