Asset Preservation = Capitol Improvement!
Asset Preservation - After time, all things deteriorate. In the case of flat roofs, mother nature causes slow and tedious damage. Seeds grow roots which eventually work their way into the waterproof barriers that have been put in place.
In this case our crews replaced (upgraded) a shelter roof; for a tower company.
This old roof leaked due to years of small vegetation “rooting” through the plastic and asphalt. This is VERY COMMON for these aging shelters. We are often contracted to apply herbicide on these shelters. Herbicide is a great prevention tool.
For this project we removed the flashing, all the concrete pads, and insulated ballast pads. Then removed the plastic membrane and cleaned the debris off the asphalt. Applied and layer of recovery fiberboard and covered it with 60mm EPDM rubber membrane.
Lastly we replaced all the ballast and concrete pads then replaced and secured the flashing.
This is a “capital improvement” for this tower company and price of mind.
