In early 2021 I got an assignment from the office to conduct an assessment of the #social #enterprise #business #model . The area that will be the location of the assessment is Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency, and West Nusa Tenggara. The number of personnel sent to the assessment location was 8 people from Jakarta, 1 person from the province of West Nusa Tenggara, and 1 person from a local resident who will assist and accompany our work in the field. Here I will describe from the first day to the last day what we did.
The first day that we do at the location upon arrival from Lombok #International #Airport is to go directly to the location that will be the target of the #assessment . Local representatives immediately picked us up and took us to the village where we were going to live and conducted an assessment. We will live side by side with local residents and see firsthand the activities they will do from waking up to sleeping again at night. When we arrived at the location, we immediately held a preliminary meeting and discussion with the parties who would be directly involved in the assessment activities. This discussion activity involved representatives of the citizens and the territorial heads of the provinces that we appointed. The preliminary discussion discusses all the planning lists that have been made and adapted to field conditions and weather. We ask for input from representatives of citizens and territorial heads regarding the plans that have been made. If we have agreed on what we have made, then tomorrow morning we will immediately go to the field.
On the second day, we visited the village head and hamlet head. besides that, we also met farmer groups and chatted casually with them. We chat casually while enjoying local specialties and of course the best coffee in the village. We talked directly with vanilla and #coffee farmers as well as cooperatives who were negotiating coffee beans. We summarize everything in notes on our cellphones and without the slightest bit of paper. Keep the atmosphere informal and the interview target is not pressured. In the evening we continued the discussion by discussing the results that we needed to make daily reports and follow-up plans for the next day.
On the third day, we revisit the places and people we met on the second day. Deepening the results of the discussion and follow-up that we have set. We also see firsthand the #certification of residents who manage coffee. Deepening information to vanilla and coffee farmers. we see local tourism conditions such as #Mount #Rinjani and the potential of durian fruits. Our discussion is set in a fluid atmosphere and full of laughter. In the evening we again held discussions and reports on the third day. After that, we make a follow-up plan and in-depth mapping of all the data we get and the need for insertion data.
On the fourth day, we met and discussed with local youth. discusses the activities of #youth during the covid-19 pandemic and what strategies they carry out. Next, we met with the cooperative #management from the city of #Mataram . Listen directly to every activity and derivative of the activities they do directly in the field. take the residents' produce in the form of coffee and sell it back to cafes in the city of Mataram. In the evening we went back to discussing an abundance of data and information. further, enrich and strengthen the business model that we will produce.

On the fifth day, I followed the residents' activities in the garden and saw firsthand the potential of the existing fruits. I found #salak fruit, #Cocoa , #Durian , and Coffee, and enjoyed the fresh #Coconut water taken under the cool foot of Mount Rinjani. Plunge into the field from morning to evening with the planters and farmers. Enjoy every cobblestone and dirt path. encounter a wide variety of #biodiversity and #natural plants and shrubs. Descending from the foot of Mount Rinjani, we immediately met with chili farmers and had a little discussion about brokering in chili commodities from farmers to middlemen. From chili farmers, we immediately went to wild honey farmers. Wild honey became one of the income solutions for local residents when Mount Rinjani #tourism was closed and the Covid-19 pandemic spread. In the evening we will continue the discussion and daily report as well as map the follow-up plan. Tonight is a bit different because we involve the host where we live and some local residents who are presently enjoying a very delicious evening coffee.
On the sixth day, we visited a cafe that served local coffee and talked about the supply of goods. see and visit the residents' mainstay tourist attractions other than Mount Rinjani, and Sajang #Glamping , and take the time to see the independent #village program in collaboration with the Central Bank of Indonesia. In the evening, as usual, we gather with local #residents to enjoy local dinner.?
On the seventh day, we look at the facilities and conditions of local #education . Then continue the #journey to the city of Mataram to meet the business owner. See the south pringgesela weavers as souvenirs that are often bought by domestic and foreign tourists. We find economic revival in Lombok after the #earthquake and #tsunami that occurred. life in Lombok has recovered and the wheels of the economy are moving forward and squirming again.
On the eighth day, we again made an appointment with the cooperative which has been taking produce from East Lombok. See the distribution of finished coffee sent to cafes in the city of Mataram. Enjoy directly ground coffee from the mill with a fragrant aroma. saw the owners of these businesses store and manage the coffee they bought from the #cooperative and then served it to the #buyers .
We arrived on the last day in the city of Mataram after 9 days we were tasked with conducting a business model assessment for a social enterprise that would be made post-assessment. All the reports and information we need are structured and complete. Today we will return to Jakarta and say goodbye and thank all the residents who have helped. to our territorial chief in the province of West Nusa Tenggara. And of course to representatives of citizens who always accompany us on every trip while in Lombok. I hope that the #social #enterprise that will be formed can provide broad and equitable benefits for all #stakeholders involved. elevating local economic and tourism potential as the main source of income for #sustainable living.
