Last night President Donald Trump delivered his first State of the Union address. He stuck to the script last night and read off of his teleprompter. Trump is graded on such a curve that pundits are giving him high marks for not ranting or attacking his opponents. We saw attempts by Trump to be more composed several times in the campaign, but the real Trump always came out and we will see the real Trump at his rally on Thursday. Trump was light on substance and signaled no shifts in his divisive and destructive policies. It was, to borrow a phrase from Sarah Palin, like seeing lipstick on a pig.

This was not a state of the union speech. State of the union speeches come a year within the administration. This was an address to Congress o layout his agenda. We'll have to see how this works out by next year.
