Plantar Fasciitis is pain along the bottom of the foot caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia connective tissue. Chronic cases often involve a resultant heel spur increasing related calcaneal pain.
Patients frequently report pain worse in the mornings with their first few steps out of bed. This complaint is most commonly resulting from the excessive inflammation at the calcaneal attachment point of the plantar fascia.
Body habitus is a possible cause of plantar fasciitis in overweight or obese patients as well as pregnant women who gain weight at a rapid pace. Added weight on the feet will stress the ligamentous and tendinous structures through all weightbearing activities.

8 å¹´Has any one had any experience with ESWT for the relief of this painful condition. I have been researching this modality for Calcific Tendonitis of the Supraspinatus Tendon and have seen alot of research for Plantar Faciitis. Any information would be beneficial to me concerning both DX. and the efficacy of this modality fo reither one.

8 å¹´What about glute strength and core strength, why is that arch so low? I dealt with plantar fascia for YEARS, after years of orthotics and day hikers I developed forefoot pain and toe numbness. I gradually worked down to a completely flat shoe (from the 22mm heel lift my day hikers had, Danskos were even worse), then to a more flexible/minimal shoe. I have not had heel pain for 4 years now. My feet have become more robust and muscular, arches have come to more normal heights. Time to look outside the box.
