Assess Your Team.

Assess Your Team.

"Teamwork makes the dream work." - John C. Maxwell

One of the most overlooked groups in the support-raising process is your current team. These are the people who have supported you in the past for short-term mission trips or are part of your ongoing support network. They already believe in your mission and make sacrifices because they feel called to help you fulfill a need in the world. However, we often overlook them and fail to invite them to deepen their commitment to the mission.

Your current supporters are your ministry’s foundation. They have a personal connection to your work and are already invested in your success. Reconnecting with them can strengthen these relationships and secure more consistent support. Here are some strategies to help you maximize support from your current team:

1. Reaffirm Their Value: Remind your supporters how vital they are to your mission. Express your gratitude and let them know their contributions make a significant impact.

2. Invite Further Commitment: This summer, challenge yourself to reach out to your current supporters. Ask if they are willing to:

???- Increase their financial contributions.

???- Connect you with potential new supporters.

???- Invest more time in volunteering or other ministry activities.

3. Personalize Your Approach: Tailor your communication to each supporter. Highlight specific ways their increased involvement can further the mission.

4. Create Engagement Opportunities: Organize events, webinars, or meetings to keep your supporters engaged and informed about your ministry’s progress. This can help them feel more connected and valued.

5. Share Success Stories: Regularly update your supporters on the tangible outcomes of their contributions. Sharing stories of lives changed or communities helped can reinforce their commitment and inspire them to do more.

Before seeking new donors, ensure you are fully utilizing the resources you already have. Often, your current supporters can provide the additional funds and connections needed to sustain and grow your ministry. By maximizing their support, you build a stronger, more resilient foundation for your mission.

Don’t overlook the team the Lord has placed in front of you. Reconnect with your current supporters, appreciate their contributions, and invite them to deepen their commitment. This approach not only strengthens your existing relationships but also ensures a more sustainable and effective support base for your ministry.
