In order to stay ahead of the competition, innovation needs to be done. But some innovations don't just change the landscape of the company, but rather it changes the landscape of an industry as a whole. It creates a new way of the demand and supply cycle operates.
One such innovation was made on December 1, 1913, Ford gave the automobile industry first moving assembly line which reduced the production of 12 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes. From manufacturing only black cars, this innovation was a huge breakthrough. Now Ford was able to customize the car as per customer's need.
The assembly line ushered a new era of revolutionization and products with better quality, reduced wastage, optimization of the workforce, and of course, greater output in much lesser time. The assembly line which started at Michigan, has made it's inroads to each and every automobile manufacturing company and its societal implications were that now due to the spike in automobile manufacturing, the supply can be synched with demand, and thus even middle-class people can afford a Ford.
