ASQ Rochester: Embracing PDCA
Hi All,
It’s been a few months since our last newsletter, and I'm excited to reconnect with you all. I’m no longer your Chair, but I’m still here, cheering on ASQ Rochester as it continues to evolve and thrive. Even better, below I will have our new Chair Frankin Allen introduce himself. As we navigate this transition, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what makes us truly special. Sections are the lifeblood of ASQ—driving innovation, fostering community, and embodying the spirit of continuous improvement through the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle.
ASQ Rochester isn’t just any section; it has been called the world’s section, the section of NextGen, and the OG section (The last statement is technically true, even if am the only person to have called it such). We don’t have everything figured out, but that’s the beauty of PDCA. We plan, we do, we check, and we act—all while embracing new ideas and fresh perspectives from our new leadership.
Speaking of new perspectives, get ready for an international experience right here in Rochester! The Roc Excellence conference, hosted by ASQ Rochester, will take place on October 22nd at the RIT Inn and Conference Center. This premier event is a shining example of our global reach and commitment to quality.
We are honored to host Rami Goldratt, CEO of Goldratt Consulting, as our keynote speaker. Known globally for his expertise in the Theory of Constraints, Rami has collaborated with his father, Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, to develop TOC Insights, a self-learning product for TOC applications in various fields. His presentation, "How to Address Obstacles of Flow to Improve Quality and Create a Competitive Advantage," will provide invaluable insights into enhancing flow efficiency, boosting quality, and gaining a competitive edge. This knowledge is particularly crucial in today's fast-paced environment with increasing customization, new product introductions, and shorter lead times.
This conference isn’t just for quality professionals. It’s an opportunity for colleagues from all departments—operations, supply chain, and beyond—to learn and grow. We might even extend the session to include more participants, amplifying our impact.
But that’s not all! ASQ Rochester is the section of NextGen, and we are committed to supporting the next generation of leaders in our community. At the Roc Excellence conference, we will unveil the recipients of our 2024 STEM grants and welcome a few FIRST Robotics teams. This is your chance to interact with and support young innovators who are shaping the future.
Our conference will feature a variety of presentations, ample networking opportunities, and, of course, delicious food. It’s the perfect occasion to recharge your quality and continuous improvement (CI) batteries, share knowledge, and foster a culture of excellence.
I can’t wait to see you all at the Roc Excellence conference! For any questions or ways to volunteer, feel free to reach out to me directly. Together, we will continue to iterate, innovate, and inspire as the lifeblood of ASQ.
Sections like ours are vital to ASQ's structure, driving innovation and growth through local engagement and global perspectives. With our new leadership, we’re bringing fresh ideas and fostering a spirit of iteration through the PDCA cycle. This approach ensures that we continually improve and adapt, making ASQ Rochester a dynamic and forward-thinking community.
While I have transitioned from the role of Chair, my dedication to ASQ Rochester and our shared mission remains unwavering. Our new leadership is primed to bring in innovative ideas and guide us through the next phase of our journey. Let's stay connected, engaged, and always forward-thinking. Now some words from Frankin.
Cheers,
Frazier
