Aspire at the Sanlam SANCAS convention

If you are new to Aspire, you may not be familiar with @Braam Venter, whose LinkedIn title description reads: Son /Husband /Father/ Friend/ Industrial Psychologist, in that order. He also happens to be the Operations Manager for Aspire South Africa which means he’s had extensive experiences guiding our clients through various culture journeys.

That said, who better to present a talk on the topic of emotional intelligence? Braam was given the opportunity to represent Aspire in this, at the Sanlam SANCAS (Sanlam Committee for Actuarial Support) convention in late November at the Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville. This exclusive event is an annual, internal conference with the intention of holistically developing and growing Sanlam actuaries.

The majority of speakers were Sanlam associates and employees, so you can imagine how honoured we felt to be included in the line up.

Titled ‘Emotional Intelligence, a Predictor Model for a Rich Life’, Braam’s talk centred on the practical value that emotional intelligence adds to work and everyday life. “I was really excited for the opportunity.”

... really allows listeners to delve into the different aspects of emotional intelligence.

At Aspire, we like to bring things home with small, interactive activities that are fun and allow the crowd to engage with the topic. These were once again the highlight of the talk as it really allows listeners to delve into the different aspects of emotional intelligence. Afterwards there was positive feedback from a few attendees that found the presentation valuable and were keen to apply their learnings in the new year. Nice one Braam!

This opportunity presented a great opportunity for us to reach wider teams and was such a positive experience. A big thank you to @Sanlam for the opportunity. It was refreshing to see a company aspiring (wink wink) to take a holistic approach to the development of their team. We can’t wait to see how much these investments in people will profit both the organisation and individuals in future.
