Aspects of an effective Pitch deck.

Pitch deck is a brief presentation containing a quick overview of your business plan and it is presented before potential investors to raise venture capital for a business. Presentation applications like PowerPoint, Prezi or Keynote are often used as the medium for a Pitch deck. Do you know Pitch Deck is also known as an investor pitch deck or a start-up deck? Email Deck and Presentation deck are its two types. An Email Deck is a document with a lot of text and information that is emailed to potential stakeholders while Presentation deck has more images to pitch to investors in person. It has less words and more graphics to get more attention, and to enhance your assertions.

The general objective of a pitch deck is to persuade investors that the start-up is viable and worth investing in but the primary goal of is to facilitate the next meeting with the investor. It takes lot of negotiations to finalise a deal, so your presentation must urge for meetings. Pitch decks should have

* a catchy design

* visually appealing slides

* succinct and up-to-date content

* precise market and competitor analysis

* credible growth metrics, and a concept worth investing in.

Your pitch deck should be no more than 20 pages long, as the investor may not read it for more than 4 minutes. In a pitch deck presentation, you should include the following details. An introduction slide about you, your company and your presentation purpose. After that mention your team and acknowledge their contribution and then address the problem your start up is trying to solve.

Make clear what advantage does your company has in solving the problem and how is it different from others. Identify the market size and opportunity to show how your product or service work to the cause by giving examples. Show the traction i.e., growth, major objectives and next step of your business. Also mention your competitors in the field before presenting your business model on how you plan to make money and how you’ve already made money so far. Tell the investors what money you’re expecting from them and why. Leave your contact details and make a space for question. Remember your presentation should be both visually appealing and intriguing.
