1.1 BACCO Charts the Future of BPO with ICT Division Support
The Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) held a productive meeting with Mr.Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, Secretary of ICT Division and Mr. Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Policy Advisor, to discuss key initiatives for advancing Bangladesh’s BPO sector.?
BACCO presented its strategic vision, focusing on skill development, international expo participation, policy support and preparations for the BPO summit 2025. These efforts aim to drive industry growth, create youth employment and position Bangladesh as a global outsourcing hub.?
The meeting was attended by BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim, BACCO Director Zayed Uddin Ahmed (ASL BPO CEO) and other senior leaders, who actively contributed insights to strengthen the sector. The ICT Division Secretary assured full support for the planned BPO Summit 2025 and collaboration on policy enhancements.
This impactful discussion underscores BACCO’s dedication to fostering industry development and unlocking opportunities for stakeholders.
1.2? Beyond Boundaries: BACCO Unveils Strategic Vision at Annual Member’s Night
On December 10,2024, BACCO held its 5th Extraordinary General Meeting, 13th Annual General Meeting and Member’s Night at Dhaka’s Sheraton Hotel, celebrating the BPO sector’s achievements and charting future goals.?
The event opened with tributes to Liberation War martyrs and July-August uprising heroes. BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim highlighted the BPO industry’s growth, with 400+ members contributing $800 million annually and targeting $1 billion and 100,000 jobs by 2025.?
Key updates included constitutional amendments for global adaptability, skill development initiatives and advanced technologies like AI and Automation. Reports on 2023-24 activities and finances were approved, alongside discussions on fire safety, policy alignment and professional identity for BPO workers.
Senior Vice President Md. Abul Khair praised collective efforts and future aspirations. The vibrant event, supported by sponsors like Payoneer, ASL BPO and Synergy IT, showcased BACCO’s commitment to driving Bangladesh’s BPO industry forward.
1.3 From Earth to Space: Joseph M. Acaba ignites Dreams of STEM and Innovation in Bangladesh?
On December 16, 2024, BASIS commemorated Bangladesh’s Victory Day with an inspiring event spotlighting space science and stem education, featuring NASA’s Chief Astronaut, Joseph M. Acaba.
Organized with the BASIS Student’s Forum and the U.S Embassy in Dhaka, the event celebrated Bangladesh’s remarkable achievements in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge, including four global championships.
Acaba, a geologist-turned-astronaut with 306 days in space across three missions, shared his journey of perseverance and exploration, captivating the audience with anecdotes, visuals and a six- minute ISS video.?
His keynote emphasized education, curiosity and resilience, inspiring students to pursue their passions.Thoughtful interactions with youth, discussions on space science and a symbolic presentation of the Bangladeshi flag highlighted the event’s spirit.?
Rafel Kabir, BASIS Associate Committee Chairman, called it a pivotal moment for empowering Bangladesh’s youth in science and technology, making the start of a new era of innovation and ambition.
1.4 ASL BPO’s Unforgettable Getaway: Cox’s and St. Martin’s Year-End Adventure
The ASL BPO team wrapped up 2024 with an exhilarating retreat to Cox’s Bazar and Saint Martin Island from December 27th to 31st. A group of 24, including the CEO, Manager, HR, Team Leads, Digital Marketing Members and other staff, came together for this much- anticipated vacation, packed with fun, bonding and adventure.
The Journey began with a check-in at the luxurious Sea Pearl Hotel. The first day set the tone with a lively beachside football game and a splashy pool volleyball match. Lunchtime brought the flavors of fresh, exquisite seafood, followed by a serene sunset walk along the beach.
The next day, the team embarked on a cruise ride to Saint Martin Island, where the stunning sight of seagulls soaring over azure waters added to the excitement. Staying at LuiPaz, the team enjoyed grilled fish and lively cultural activities, including singing, dancing and storytelling. The evening’s highlight? An epic UNO session that had everyone in stitches!
The final day brought a spirited tug-of-war and heartfelt moments as team members shared their experiences from the trip.
This retreat wasn’t just a vacation, it was a celebration of camaraderie, laughter and unforgettable memories that set the stage for an inspiring new year.
2.1 BASIS Commemorates July-August Mass Revolution Heroes?
On December 12-13, 2024, members of BASIS’s newly formed Associate Committee undertook initiatives to honor the sacrifices of the July-August Revolution and outline future plans. On December 12, an interactive session was held at the BASIS Boardroom with representatives of the anti-discrimination student movement, focusing on leveraging information technology.
Discussions centered on the significance of the July-August Revolution, its ideals and the need to propagate its message widely. Proposals included using IT to preserve memories, conduct training programs and implement various initiatives.
The BASIS Associate Committee emphasized preserving the martyr’s legacy while ensuring the welfare of the injured by collaborating with BASIS-BITM to enhance skills and facilitate job opportunities through IT training.
On December 13, after Jumu’ah prayer, the committee paid tribute to martyrs Mir Mahfuzur Rahman (Mugdho) and Ridwan Sharif Riyad (Joy) at Bamnartek graveyard, Kamarpara. A special prayer for their eternal peace was held, attended by Mir Mostafiz Rahman, The father of martyr Mir Mugdho, who expressed his gratitude for the initiative.
These activities highlight BASIS’s commitment to honoring past sacrifices, fostering collaboration and empowering the youth to carry forward the movement’s ideals in today’s digital age.
3.0 Insurance Outsourcing 2.0: Meeting Change with Innovation
As the insurance industry evolves, innovation has become critical for outsourcing providers to remain competitive. The dynamic market demands rethinking strategies and embracing new technologies to address operational challenges and customer needs.

3.1 2024 Offshore BPO Confidence rankings
The latest Offshore BPO Confidence Index done by Cognitive Copy and Ryan Strategic Advisory, conducted in Q3 and Q4 of 2024, reaffirms India as the global leader in offshore outsourcing. Scoring an impressive 93.9%, India maintains its dominance, thanks to its robust infrastructure, cost efficiency and vast talent pool, despite minor concerns over Tier-3 talent availability and urban traffic. This marks India’s consecutive year at the top, following a 90.1% confidence score in 2023.
In Europe, Poland ranks second with 91%, leveraging its mature BPO ecosystem and multilingual workforce, while Kosovo secures third place(86.2%), rising as a contender with strong language capabilities. Latin America shines with the Dominican Republic (85.6%) and Columbia (84.9%) leading, noted for multilingual talent and versatile skill sets, despite challenges like corruption and limited recruitment access.
The Philippines remains a global hub at eighth place (82.1%), powered by an English proficient workforce but facing infrastructure and fiscal challenges. Emerging markets like Serbia (84.39%), Egypt (81.2%) and Fiji (80.9%) show promise, while Mexico, Jamaica and others display moderate potential hindered by political and structural issues.
Based on 140 insights from BPO leaders across 16 markets, the index reflects the evolving global outsourcing landscape and highlights innovation- driven growth opportunities worldwide.
