Asking the right questions
This morning I had a discussion with a friend about some video interviews that she's filming.
Each interview will be about 3 minutes and we were talking about the best questions to ask to get relevant responses from the interviewees.
People talk about asking open questions, but sometimes, if you want a straight answer a closed question is better. To start off an interview, a closed question can set the scene. Even open questions need to lead people down a certain route; if a question is too open the interviewee may give a vague answer which is not specific enough to be useful.
