Asking for a Friend

I have a quandary that I am sure someone out there can help with. You see, I work for a national AV design firm that has been in business longer than most. This month actually marks our 66th year of business which I find to be incredibly impressive (hopefully, you do too). We don’t projection map sides of buildings and we don’t have revenue close to the billion-dollar mark (yet), but we do bring an army of incredibly intelligent individuals who approach each project as a custom job. Why? Because it is. What we are the masters of is building long-lasting relationships and a reputation built on trust, dedication, and the crazy idea that doing what is right is always the best business practice. The father of former Baker AV President, Duke Mewborn, was one of the Engineers that made up the Altec Services Company, which later became Altec Lansing. Altec developed the technology for the first film to feature synchronized recorded music and several scenes that included lip-synchronous speech and singing, The Jazz Singer. With all that being said, we are still “the little guy” and the “little guy” doesn’t tend to get noticed as easily. There are more AV companies out there that would fall under the small business category than there are mega AV companies and the work by these companies is still relevant and important. So, for those in media and media-related fields, what can be done to support those companies? What do you think would be valuable to help elevate them?
