They asked to be splashed

We have had lots of rain in Sydney recently, and my daughter and I are cruising back from the gym. As we're driving, we spot a group of kids by the roadside, enthusiastically waving at passing cars. What do they want? Nothing more than a good ol' splash from the puddle nearby. You know, just harmless kid stuff.
And me being me, I couldn't resist the chance to join in on the fun. So, I did a quick U-turn, headed back, and... well, you can imagine the rest!
In this video, I want to talk about prioritization and joy.
You see, prioritising tasks and managing time is something that comes up a lot in my work with leaders. Leaders often express feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks, to-do lists, and projects on their plates.
And trust me, I get it. But here's the thing: prioritisation isn't just about checking off boxes; it's about focusing on what truly matters. For me, it all boils down to a simple yet powerful concept: Prioritising by Impact. I'm a firm believer in investing time and energy into things that will yield the most significant long-term results.
In my work with leaders, especially during our intensive 90-day program and subsequent mastery sessions, we dive deeper into the art of prioritisation. We talk about not just impact, but also joy. Because here's the magic formula: when you can align high-impact tasks with activities that bring you joy, that's where the real magic happens.
Think about it: finding that sweet spot where your actions not only make a difference but also bring you genuine happiness—that's where your genius truly shines. So, whether it's at work or during simple moments of fun with loved ones, infusing joy into everything we do is key.
And hey, speaking of joy, that impromptu puddle-splashing session with Fleur? It brought laughter not just to us but to the kids in the background too. Now, if that isn't a testament to the power of joy, I don't know what is!
So, my questions for you is this: When you prioritise, do you think about joy? And if not, maybe it's time to start. What tasks should you prioritise because not only are they important, but they also bring you a lot of joy?
This is this week's Work Smarter: Live Better tip.
