#AskDavid - Insights into the Future of Aviation and Sustainability

Welcome to this month’s #AskDavid with our founder and CEO, aviation legend, David Neeleman. We're thrilled with the thought-provoking questions we've received and can't wait to share David's insights. If there's something you want to know, don't hesitate to join the conversation. Keep reading to see if your question was answered!?

"What do you believe the future of aviation will be in terms of commercial travel/aircraft? Is there a different way you envision customers getting by in a few years?" – Chris P., New York City?

I don't foresee a great deal of transformation in the commercial aviation sector in the upcoming years, beyond the development of increasingly efficient aircraft. This trend towards efficiency is one we're excited to be a part of with our fleet moving towards all A220s.?

The Airbus A220 is a cutting-edge aircraft that offers unparalleled fuel economy, a factor that provides us with a distinct advantage. The economics of the A220 mean that smaller, “thinner” routes can be profitable. This means we can extend our services to a broader range of locations and guests, offering them a service they wouldn't typically have.

?

"What’s your plans for sustainable aviation? Are you willing to use electric or hybrid airplanes? – Adival M., Broomfield, Colorado?

While I am a strong advocate for sustainable practices, the current state of technology makes it challenging to use electric power in a cost-effective way for aviation. When you're working with aviation, you need to keep something up in the air, which demands significant energy. As of now, electric solutions simply can't provide the necessary range in an economical way.?

However, this doesn't mean that the aviation industry can't play a role in promoting sustainability. I believe we can make considerable contributions to offsetting carbon emissions by directing resources and funds towards other forms of transportation that have a larger carbon footprint. These modes of transport are currently more economical and feasible to transition to electric or hybrid power.?

In the future, if advances in technology make electric or hybrid aircraft a viable option, I would certainly be open to embracing such solutions. Until then, our focus should be on making the most efficient use of the resources we have and supporting the development of greener alternatives where they are most achievable.?

Mr. Neeleman, may daughter and I have been following the growth of Breeze since the beginning, We love the airline and ability to serve smaller communities. She is 18 and just completed her PPL. Do you have any cadet or recruiting opportunities for an 18 year old female with her PPL? She is planning on attending ATP. Keep up the good work and keep growing.

Mr. David Neelman, I’ve always looked up to you back when you started jetBlue and made an absolutely incredible impact. I loved flying on jetBlue especially the last time back in the summer of 2021 to Buffalo, NY from Fort Lauderdale, FL.
