Ask yourself this question if you find yourself worrying.

I have to put my hand up here, I used to worry about everything. All the damn time.

It was so exhausting because I’d catastrophise and mull things over and over, making lots of assumptions about what may or may not happen.

And the truth is hardly any of the stuff that I worried about actually happened.

It took a LOT of energy. It destroyed my sleep. It made me go into a frenzy where I was making poor decisions and generally being a suspicious, paranoid wreck.?

I realised that I was catastrophising a lot more than I needed to do, which meant that my body was reacting to all the potential future negative outcomes as if they were already happening.

I was stuck in fight or flight constantly.?

Do you want to know how I broke that cycle?

This question. It totally obliterated it:

“Is this a story that I'm making up or is it the truth? And if it IS the truth, what are the facts?”

What are the real hard facts, not the facts that I have in my head that’s actually a story I’m making up about this particular thing? What are the REAL facts?

Once I started asking myself that with every situation I started worrying about, I realised that most of it was just stories I’d created in my head.

Most of your worries come from the stories that you create.?

Think about that for a second.

So, next time you're about to worry remember this.?

Say you heard someone said something about you - did you actually go and ask this person DIRECTLY about what they said... or was it hearsay??

Because the thing about us humans, we’re pretty egocentric. For the most part, it's all about us. We make it personal when it's actually just a story. Once we can start to understand that, life can flow with a little more ease and a lot less worry.?
