Today is Monday and a brand new start to the week.
My day started just like any other week.
My alarm went off, I hit snooze, more than once. But today, as it's Monday I did something that I don't do any other day.
Today I do a practice that I started a few years ago, that not only massively boosts my productivity but also radically changed how I feel about my day, and that I do every single Monday.
You see what I used to do was:
Alarm goes off
I hit snooze a few times
Then I got up and onto the metaphorical treadmill, thinking about all the things I had to get done that day, and I just kept going and going and going until I went to bed again.
I know I'm not alone in this.
A lot of my clients tell me that they feel like they're on a treadmill too, or spinning lots of plates, juggling lots of balls, treading water. It all means the same. To just keep going hoping you'll get everything crossed off your never ending list during the day.
But the thing is that more often than not that doesn't happen.
Other things come along that weren't expected.
Things change, and if you're not careful the end of the day comes round and although you know you've been super busy, you also don't feel like you've got anything done, or got any closer to where you wanted to be.
Sound familiar?
I was there too - and it didn't make me feel all that great to be honest.
It felt like I was just going through the motions and what I really wanted was to feel like I was getting somewhere.
That I was making progress.
Making an impact.

Achieving something.
In fact most of my clients tell me they want to feel accomplished.
Maybe you do too.
So when I recognised that I wasn't getting anywhere fast and every day felt like Groundhog Day I decided to make a change.
So, I changed one small thing to my week that not only massively boosted my productivity but had the Bonus that it completely changed how I FELT about my week - and in all honesty this was the thing that made the difference.
I felt motivated; productive; excited; happy; focused; energised and all of this then filtered into my work and into my LIFE. These feelings created ripple effects that people started telling me about and that once again, I could FEEL.
So, what was this change that I made?
Well, before I get out of bed on a Monday I decide and write down 3 things:
1) How do I want to FEEL on Friday? (Productive, excited, accomplished, happy, motivated? No wrong answer here.)
2) What do I want to be CELEBRATING on Friday? (Finishing a big project; getting new clients?Again, no wrong answer here)
3) What do I need to do that will help me achieve both of those two things? (What do I need to do that will really move the needle for me?)
By asking these three questions every Monday, it enables you to follow one of Steven Covey's habits in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - to start with the end in mind.
By looking at what you want at the end of the week it allows you to really focus on what's important, where your energy needs to go during the week and what you need to prioritise to get you the results that you really want.
3 simple questions that will not only catapult your productivity but make you feel so much better about your week.
Give them a try and let me know how you get on.
