ASK SOMEONE TODAY!
R U OK?DAY
R U OK?DAY - THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2019 R U OK?Day is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone to ask, “Are you OK?” and to remember every day of the year to support people who may be struggling with life's ups and downs.
Mental health is at alarming levels where suicide is growing faster than ever before.
And when we think of mental health we usually think of people who are crazy and who are locked in asylums and generally mentally deranged, but for the most part this could not be further form the truth.
Mental health is a silent epidemic that is quietly consuming good people for all the wrong reasons.
We all face challenges that will at some point in our life push us to the brink of desperation and when this happens we tend to move from a state of reasoning to a state of emotional overwhelm where we feel as though we can no longer cope with the daily struggles of the life that we live.
It’s when these moments get hold of us and cause us to think dark thoughts and which move us into non productive and dysfunctional states that many of us know as depression, anxiety, despondency, apathy, disillusionment, doubt and reservation and about who we are and what our purpose really is.
It’s at this point that things begin to unravel because without purpose we lose sight of the meaning of life and we begin to feel like we are no longer in control of our lives.
But here’s the good news it’s not all bad, in fact it’s much better now than you think and the reason I say this is because to get yourself into a negative frame of mind one has to think negative thoughts.
You cannot experience a feeling without first having a thought; this is key point number one.
When we have a thought at a conscious level we influence our reasoning and if we have that thought often enough and long enough we will begin to believe that the feeling is real.
But if we switch that feeling out for a feeling that excites us and inspires us (we can as a matter of default) no longer be having negative thoughts but you must engage your will power to hold that positive thought on the screen of your mind long enough for you to believe it, and long enough to restore hope to your heart.
Mental health is such an unwelcome visitor to our society and yet it’s so very real, real to the point of it taking people’s lives when they have so much to live for and so much to offer others.
When we lose sight of who we are and why we are here we lose hope and when we lose hope we stop believing in possibility and potential.
Change your thinking today and seek to inspire another, ask them if they need help, show them that you genuinely care and most of all listen to their story and try to understand their message because in many cases these people just want to be heard, considered and understood and you can help make that happen.
It’s a tough world and it’s getting tougher so if we don’t start supporting those around us who need our help then the situation is likely to worsen.
Reach out today and ask someone near or close to you if they are okay because when you do you will be giving something back to our society that is more valuable than money or material things,
It’s not what you do that matters - so much as who you become by what you do.
Make a change today, reach out and ask someone near you if they’re okay?
I’m Christopher Shaw and I’m wishing you continued success
