Ask the prpl BoD: Wayne Daniel

Our board of directors contains experts from across the industry dedicated to open-source, carrier-grade?#wifi?and?#broadband?CPE. We sat down with them and asked for some of their insight as to why they serve on the BoD. Wayne Daniel is Senior Director of Technology at Qualcomm. Here's what he had to say!

Why prpl Foundation? What do you find is valuable about you and your company’s participation?

It’s important to collaborate with partners to build upon the foundation of open-source software to enable better products for the world’s communications systems. It is truly amazing the pace and impact of broadband communications over the past 25 years.

What experience do you bring to prpl Foundation’s Board of Directors?

I have past experience in the communications industry, including standards organizations such as the Broadband Forum where I served as co-chair of the Broadband Home Working Group.

What aspects of prpl Foundation’s plans for 2022 are you most excited about

I'm most excited about the outstanding growth of the Prpl membership and ecosystem. I’m honored to be part of it.

What would you say to an organization that is considering a Prpl Foundation membership?

It is a great time to join and mold the future of open source for broadband gateway CPE.

If you could be doing one thing other than being on a Zoom call, what would it be?

Outdoors in a kayak or hiking. I love getting out and seeing the wonders of nature.
