Ask. Listen. Learn. Act. Commit
So much pain and chaos and concern and catastrophe in our world these days. So difficult to understand or deal with it all. So many sources of information and perspectives to wade through. Overwhelming, to say the least.
I don't have any real answers to any of this, just lots of questions. Some deeply personal, some grounded in a profound need to gather up as much diverse insight as I can to make progress on my journey to be better. To learn as much as I can about race and racism so I can make better decisions and take better actions and ask better questions. To be a better dad and friend and peer and person.
So I asked for and received this starter set of books to help me do just that. A start.
I will continue to work through this list as I try and take my own advice to ask and listen and learn and act and commit. And I will gladly discuss what I'm learning or confused by with anyone who wants to engage.
That's it. If you, too, want to learn more, and need a place to start, this stack may help.
A well thought-out bibliography for contemplating the 'original sin' of America! For a deeper historical perspective, I would recommend "The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism."

4 年Nice going Craig. In the twilight of a career, it is distressing to realize how much more I could have done to address racism and inequality especially in consulting. Still some time left to do better. Best Mike
