Ask Fennies: Education Team

We sat down with the Fennies Education team to discover more about their roles at Fennies and how they implement the Education programme at Fennies. Find out what Rageena Tahir , Head of EYFS and Ruth Mottram , Education Advisor, have to say below!?

Rageena, what is Fennies Inspire and how do you implement the education programme across Fennies???

Fennies Inspire is our enhanced delivery of the seven areas of learning. We know that children learn best when they are engaged and inspired by the experiences on offer. So, to ensure that they are stretched and challenged, we’ve put a focus on providing opportunities to allow them to explore areas including STEM, Art, Languages and Expressions. Fennies Inspire Expressions is all about how we support children with the development of their communication and language – for example, this includes the introduction of our Fennies Book Club, which supports staff and parents in understanding the importance and impact of reading with children and gives helpful hints and tips on effective storytelling.????

We’ve rolled out talking spaces within our nurseries to give children a quiet space to have intimate conversations with their key person, and Ruth has gone on letters and sounds tours to introduce many different ways to help develop children's listening and speaking skills. Fennies Inspire isn't just about inspiring our children through opportunities but also inspiring our staff through training and sharing exciting activity ideas.?

?Ruth, can you explain your role as the Education Advisor at Fennies???

My role involves visiting all of our settings to give educational advice, helping to upskill the teams and role model excellent activity ideas that link to our Inspire curriculum themes.?

I also look at the learning environments and help to ensure the continuous provision is in place and making an impact. I enjoy helping practitioners make sure they have everything they need to deliver excellent experiences. Another element of my role, and one that I enjoy, is working alongside our training team, delivering sessions for managers, deputies, and practitioners.?

I help to produce the Fennies Inspire content and work closely with Rageena to identify new trends and ideas.?

How do you support the teams with activity ideas??

After initial visits to the settings, I will often return with ideas ready to showcase to the practitioners based on the interests of the children. I signpost practitioners to useful websites or books, which I feel would be helpful, I am a huge fan of Workplace and use it to post ideas and videos with ideas.??
