Are there any advantages/disadvantages to having a credit card made of metal?
The advantages of a metal credit card compared to a plastic card include a heavier weight and stronger durability compared to plastic.?
Although these advantages are practical, there is an emotional advantage of a metal credit card versus a plastic card that includes the public display of luxury. In essence, a metal card serves no special purpose other than offering users some tactile benefits and a public display of opulence. There is something to be said for touching a metal card as it does feel heavy in one's hand.?
Why do you think some credit cards are made of metal and others aren’t?
Premium credit cards will use metal to justify the increased costs of ownership and to essentially create a "luxury credit card." Most credit cards are composed of plastics, which are cheaper to manufacture compared to metal cards.?
What advice do you have for someone who wants to apply for a metal credit card?
The metal content should not be the card's competitive advantage. Consider a card's costs and benefits. When the credit card is transferred to Apple Pay, the benefits obtained by the public display of wealth fall by the wayside.?
Do you think there aren’t any metal credit cards for people with no credit/bad credit?
Metal credit cards are offered for premium credit cards, so, I doubt consumers with bad credit would purposively seek out a metal card.?
Does it matter what material a credit card is made out of?
Absolutely not. The chip functions in both metal and plastic and Apply Pay transforms metal and plastic into a virtual dimension.
