Asia Perspectives Tour: Day 11 - 14; Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and Hyderabad (HITEC City), India
What is failure?: I have failed many times, and will fail many more times. The most important thing is to learn from failure, take calculated bets, and keep improving. Great leaders have failed multiple times - be it Gandhi, George Washington's 1776 loss of New York to the British, or David Rubenstein passing on investing in Facebook in the early days
Day 11 – 14 was spent at Bharat Mandapam (the venue for the G20 summit held in Sept 2023), Hyderabad (HITEC City – India’s special economic zone for global IT and Engineering Consulting companies including Amazon, Deloitte, and Microsoft), Golconda Fort (an 11th-century fortress), Statue of Equality and other historic landmarks.
1.????? G20 summit: Made a pit stop to visit the venue for the G20 summit where world leaders deliberated on matters of global socio-economic importance in September 2023. It was inspiring to be in the The Summit lounge, and see some of the India culture on display for world leaders
2.????? Global Bio-India 2023 Summit: India continues to stake its claim as a global hub for quality and fairly priced next gen healthcare services and equipment. Learning from panelist and seeing surgical exhibitions on display was inspiring.
3.????? Hyderabad HITEC City (Hyderabad Information Technology and Engineering Consultancy City): This is a Special Economic Zone focused on information technology and engineering consultancy and encouraged to set up operations in Hyderabad. These multinationals are creating top quality jobs for thousands of Indias – e.g Amazon (15,000 workers+)[1], Deloitte (40,000 workers)[2], and Google (18,000 planned workers in its office set to open in 2026)[3]. I was impressed by the youthful energy and incredible talents I interacted with in Hyderabad.
4.????? Golconda Fort: Visiting an 11th century fort helps one appreciate the importance of building things that will outlive one. Walking to Darbar Hall and getting a view of Hyderabad from the peak refreshes one’s perspective

5.????? Statue of Equality:? We visited the Statue of Equality, built to commemorate the 1,000 year birth of Ramanuja (an 11th century Indian philosopher). In addition to the sitting Ramanuja statue, I was impressed by the 108 Divya Desam (premium temples).
6.????? Charminar and Birla Mandir: Made quick stops to see Charminar and Birla Mandir
?
Next perspective: Mumbai, India. What will you like me to learn about India (experiences, industries, ideas, culture, people, or whatever you think)?
