On the 2nd anniversary of the death of David Bowie; I am personally reminded of the need to reinvent ourselves and to be in a constant state of evolution.
If you take a look at your life most of you will probably agree that you are a vastly different person than you were a few short years ago.
I remember as a teenager thinking that I finally knew how life worked and had it figured out.
Then when I was in my mid-20s I looked back and laughed at that kid and how much he really didn't know and how NOW I knew.
In my early 30s, I looked back at the guy in his 20s that knew it all and laughed again.
Today I know that the one thing I know is I don't know shit.
Knowing how much I do not know and how much I still need to learn makes evolving and reinventing easy.
The same needs to be true with your Agency.
We all know a dinosaur agent that is lumbering around our town or district.
They built an Agency when all you had to do is throw up a sign in the 70s or 80s.
They crushed their competition when radio spots made you seem successful and brought in traffic
They were early adopters of internet leads when the quality was not so watered down and people were not as savvy to them.
Today many if not all of them tread water or move backward trying to maintain strategies that have passed their prime.
You must be willing and able to adapt and adjust to the current climate and get ahead of things.
Personal and professional development is essential.
You don't want to wake up one morning realizing that you have to figure out how to do something totally different just to be competitive.
It should be a slow tide of change eroding away the old ways of doing things as newer and better ways are made available.
Big and sudden jolts to established agencies are not fun or easy to stomach.
An evolution takes place in front of your eyes slowly and efficiently and barely anyone even notices it. Its subtle but keeps you current.
It may feel weird or uncomfortable or odd but getting out of your comfort zone always does.
Do yourself a favor and never get comfortable. Youll never have a comfort zone to leave.
"Turn and face the strange
Time may chase me
But I cant trace time."

7 年Truth! Some things change. It is no longer "if you keep on doing what you have always done you will keep on getting what you have always got"...nowadays if you keep on doing what you have always done...means you are out of business! Innovate or do something else. Thanks for all that you do!
