ASDIP STEEL Complies with CSA S16-19
ASDIP Structural Software
Software for structural design of building components such as beams, columns, retaining walls, footings, base plates.
ASDIP STEEL?is a structural software for the design of steel members, such as base plates, columns, steel / composite beams, shear connections, and moment connections. Now ASDIP STEEL complies with the Canadian steel code CSA S16-19. Following is a brief discussion of the implementation of this new feature in the software.
ASDIP STEEL Complies with CSA S16-19
To specify the design code, go to Design > Design Criteria > Codes. In addition to the AISC 360, now ASDIP STEEL includes CSA S16-19 as an option for both the steel design code and the load combinations. Select this option and the design will fully comply with the CSA S16-19 provisions.
Even when CSA S16-19 has its own set of load combinations, you can specify your own load factors, or specify the ASCE 7 combinations if desired. This offers a great flexibility in the design capabilities of the software.
Exposed formulas with references
The Detailed tab shows a step-by-step set of detailed calculations, which include exposed formulas and references to the code. This information is very useful for a granular check of the calculations, both during the design process, and when the project is submitted for check approval.

The new CSA S16-19 implemented provisions include all the limit states involved in the design, such as bolt bearing, shear yielding, block shear, flexure, weld design, etc, as shown below.
Takeaway
ASDIP STEEL fully complies with the Canadian steel code CSA S16-19. These provisions include steel / composite beams, steel columns, and shear connections. Base plates and moment connections will be added shortly.?
