Ascot Chase Wetland put to the test

The importance of urban water management was on display yesterday at Ascot Chase Wetlands.

The wetland detains and treats stormwater from the surrounding estates as it travels downstream, east to west, into the Maribyrnong River.

But it was also designed to fully compensate for floodplain capacity that was lost during the construction of those estates.

You can see in the video below, filmed by a local resident at around 1pm yesterday, that the wetland was put to the test and appears to have functioned as intended.
