At some point in my professional career, I felt like there was a loose point, hence, the need for a review career of my At some point in my professional career, I felt like there was a loose point, hence, the need for a review of my career as at a time “T”, in order to identify my wins and losses, my successes and my failures.

In the same manner, as a business organization, we sometimes have reservations about our structure, operations, processes we are unsure whether leakages exist in the system, whether we are performing as efficient as our competitors, etc.

The first step to confirming these concerns is documenting/reviewing your current processes. This is the present state or condition of the operational processes. This is sometimes called Current State Analysis, Current State Documentation or AS-IS Documentation.

The “AS-IS documentation allows you to get an accurate view of how the process currently works with a view to transforming the vision into results.

The main purpose of an AS-IS process analysis is to identify areas of improvements and the starting point for change. However, it is important to bear in mind that an As Is analysis may only show you what can be improved, but not necessarily how to proffer a solution.

In capturing the AS-IS process, a lot of tools and resources available for use. One can use a flow chart diagram, an analysis table, a business process model notation, conduct interviews with process owners and a host of others.
