NFT PARIS: WHEN WEB 3 ENTERS THE CITY OF LIGHT

Following a fantastic event at Le Grand Palais for NFT Paris, people have been reveling in everything they have seen to be coming up in the Web3 industry. Something that caught the eye quickly was the fascinating storytelling art of the NFT RENGA collection which is a concept inspired by Japanese-style Manga art and anime created by digital artist Dirty Robot. RENGA is a collection of 10,000 PFP characters that are hand-drawn and each incredibly unique. They are sold in Black Box form - each box is a portal to an archetype of the RENGA world.

The WorldwideWebb stand was an amazing insight into NFT gaming. You can brave the crypto gaming dungeon and craft your gaming experience using your NFTs as weapons and face off against the mighty Cyberkong in their Roguelite game!

The stand inspired by the concept of the Egyptian myth of Ra, ThePassageofRa?is a new NFT installation by A.A.Murakami that juxtaposes the ephemeral nature of a fleeting moment with the immutable permanence of the blockchain.?The Passage of Ra?will only exist as a Mataverse installation at NFT Paris for days, but it will be forever captured in an 12-minute generative art video, which will be sold in 1-minute segments on MakersPlace in March 2023.

It was amazing to see the renowned sculptor Tom Sachs at NFT Paris showing his project Metaverse. In recent years, he has also been exploring the world of web3 with his passion project, the Tom Sachs Rocket Factory (TSRF), which aims to create a decentralized space program that combines art, technology, and space exploration. Through his partnership with NFT Paris, Sachs is helping to shape the future of the art world and redefine what it means to be an artist in the digital age. (Journal Du Coin )

Can Google Merge AR and AI?

Google earlier this month pushed the ball forward by announcing that Multisearch is now available on any mobile device where?Google Lens ?is already available. For those unfamiliar, Lens is Google’s AR feature that provides informational overlays on items you point your phone at. This applies computer vision, which is AI-driven. And with multisearch, visuals join text to offer optionality for users more inclined towards one or the other. For example, sometimes it’s easier to point your phone at items you encounter IRL, versus describing them with text. But starting a search in that visual modality only gets you so far. Being able to then refine or filter those results with text (per the above green shirt example) is where the magic happens. And the use cases will begin to expand beyond fashion to fill out all the reaches of web search. For example, Google noted that it’s working on a flavor of Multisearch that will launch image searches from wherever you are on your phone. Known as “search your screen” it brings Google Lens from your outward-facing smartphone camera to anything that shows up on your screen. (AR Insider )

Connectivity on the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition

Xiaomi , a provider of consumer electronics and smart manufacturing solutions, has this week announced at Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023) its brand new augmented reality (AR) glasses with the introduction of the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition. The glasses represent Xiaomi’s first wireless AR device to utilize distributed computing, and offer a retina-level adaptive display that adjusts to the lighting environment. With enhanced connectivity to a Snapdragon Spaces ready smartphone, the company’s new AR device enables innovative hand tracking at a refined level, supports a comprehensive range of applications for larger displays, and offers innovations in inter-device compatibility, according to Xiaomi. Instead of relying on a wired connection to a host computing device, Xiaomi’s AR glasses weigh just 126g and adopt Xiaomi-developed high-speed interconnection buses to achieve high-speed data connection from a smartphone. Built on the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 Platform and featuring Xiaomi’s proprietary low-latency communication link, the company states that its glasses, which support Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform, offer a wireless latency of as low as 3ms between a smartphone device to the glasses, and a wireless connection comparable to wired solutions with full link latency as low as 50ms. Apple taps China's Luxshare to develop augmented reality device

Apple has chosen China's Luxshare to help develop augmented reality devices, Nikkei Asia has learned, the first time the iPhone maker has tapped a Chinese supplier for a first-generation product. Luxshare, China's rapidly rising tech manufacturing champion, has taken over the AR development team in Shanghai that was previously owned by Taiwan's Pegatron, according to five people with knowledge of the matter. Luxshare's participation is a milestone for Chinese tech suppliers. In previous decades, Apple has relied on Taiwanese suppliers like Foxconn to help it develop the first generations of new product lines. Its decision to rely on a Chinese player like Luxshare comes amid heightened tech tensions between the U.S. and China, and scrutiny of Apple's own reliance on its?supply chain in China . Chiu Shih-fang, a tech supply chain analyst with the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, said Chinese suppliers used to be the latecomers in the Apple supply chain and Luxshare's foray into new product development is a sign of the company's growing importance to Apple.
