Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on May 16, sidestepped a question regarding Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal's allegations of assault by his close aide, Bibhav Kumar. During a joint press conference in Lucknow with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, a reporter raised the issue of Maliwal's claims. Kejriwal, instead of addressing the question, passed the microphone to Yadav, who dismissed it, emphasizing, "there are more important things."
In response, AAP leader Sanjay Singh took the opportunity to draw parallels with unresolved issues involving BJP members. He cited crimes against women in BJP-ruled Manipur, including allegations against BJP MP Prajwal Revanna and the silence surrounding BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who faced protests from wrestlers.
Sanjay Singh stated, “A Kargil hero’s wife was paraded naked in Manipur and the prime minister remained silent. Prajwal Revanna assaulted and raped several women, yet the government facilitated his escape. Swati Maliwal was beaten by Delhi police when she met protesting women wrestlers. We’ve witnessed PM Modi's silence on incidents like Hathras and Kuldeep Sengar."
Kumar, who was removed as Kejriwal's personal secretary by the Directorate of Vigilance in April but continues to manage the CM's daily schedule, has remained a contentious figure. Singh reiterated AAP's stance, urging BJP to address these broader issues rather than politicize Maliwal's allegations.
On Tuesday, Singh assured that Kejriwal would take strict action against Kumar and mentioned that he met Maliwal on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Maliwal approached the Civil Lines Police Station, alleging that a member of Kejriwal’s staff had assaulted her at the CM's official residence.

By deflecting the question and shifting focus to BJP controversies, the AAP leadership aims to highlight broader systemic issues and the need for accountability across political lines.
