(Untitled Abstraction) is an oil painting on stretched canvas, painted around 1960. The canvas measures 33-3/4 x 43-5/8". It is signed by the artist in the lower left corner. The work is strip framed with a silver frame with a black inset.
This large oil on canvas by painter Maury Lapp is an abstracted cityscape. The viewer's eye moves between the organized structure of the composition to small, intimate views, apartments, entries, windows etc.
Lapp subdued his usual colorful palette concentrating more on the cool whites, grays and blacks of concrete, with bits of color added sparingly.
