The Artsy and Trendy Downtown Sheridan WY

Where I grew up has become quite Artsy and Trendy - Still somewhat the small ranching and mining town at the foot of the 13,375 foot tall big horn mountains, Sheridan Wy, has morphed into a trendy and artsy retirement community. Houses have gone from the modest 20K my parents paid for a 4 bedroom fixer upper in the 70's to one million dollar 3 br mountain cabins like the engineer Jerry who co-signed my student loans so I could attend South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City SD and Major in Electrical Engineering now has. Engineering has been a roller coaster with much of the work now in India and China and many of my new contacts in those countries. Old classmates who had the money to head to California and the fortunes to remain there and build up value in a house have started to return to WY to retire bringing a nice real-estate bubble, and many changes in the community.

The Fishing is great on the mountain and in the lakes and reservoirs, there is a nice Jet that makes Denver an hour and some odd minutes away by air, Live Theatre, Polo in the summer, several Golf courses, The Big Horn Mountains, and wide open spaces. Art is all over -- literally the streets are lined with sculptures. And history abounds - Custer's last stand is less than an hour and a half away, and Fort Phil Kearny about 25min south of town. My father was the historian at Custer Battlefield and Fort Laramie north of Cheyenne and East of Casper.
