The day has come! Global Water Dances Day began on June 8th, the World Ocean Day, and it will go until Sunday June 13th!
Enjoy the activities of this amazing week. I am proud to have been a co-founder and to remained a Steering Committee member and Choreographer since our incubator conceptual 3-day meet-up in Dartington Hall in England in 2008. And as former Executive Director and President of Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies- LIMS it is great to "have come home" activating MOVEMENT CHOIRS to speak about #CLIMATECRISES.
Join us for our Global Water Dances Film Showing 2021!
Today from June 9 through June 11 we will be featuring films that celebrate water and highlight local and global issues around water through dance. Films were made from 100+ different locations during the lockdown. See participating videos, locations and program here: https://globalwaterdances.org/filmshowing2021. Do not miss! Subscribe to our Youtube channel to receive updates!
During this time of pandemic, there are some sites that are authorized by local health agencies, to perform outdoors with their group. These events can be live-streamed. Live-streamed performances will be shown on various FaceBook pages! For a complete list of live events, check our Map of Locations
For a complete list of cities and countries participating, look at our map here.
For those of you who live in one of our dance event cities, like MY CITY - NEW YORK CITY (see flyer for Fri and Sat early evening below) we hope you will be able to attend the live performance there. Note that the time of each performance may vary, so check the map for hours and timezones! You can follow along via live streaming through our Facebook Page or on Instagram by following the hashtags #Globalwaterdances2021, and #gwdances2021
Thank you to everyone who has supported these event sites, as well as making Global Water Dances possible. AND a huge congratulations to all of the artists and activists involved!
