Harland Miller is probably best known for his large-scale paintings of imaginary Penguin book covers. The fictious titles offer a cutting take on contemporary life.?Mixing a Pop Art playfulness with fine art sensibilities, the Chelsea College of Art alumnus has also gone on to create memorable collections inspired by psychology books of the 1960s and '70s and the Penguin Plays series. In 2018,?BBC Radio Three?broadcast a five-part series on Miller's colourful life and the influence it has had on his work, which you can listen to?here.

Miller is also an acclaimed author. His novel, Slow Down Arthur, Stick To Thirty is a surreal, 1980s, coming-of-age story.

If You Ever Leave Me I'm Coming With You

By James McQueen

Since joining Halcyon Gallery James McQueen's artwork has increased in value significantly, with original works?starting at £15,000?and?upwards.?We are very happy?to share this incredible original painting that is currently available in our Gallery?for £12,000.

Inspired by the likes of famous street artist: Banksy, McQueen is an elusive artist, linking the fiction of his?literary-themed?subject matter with his fabricated name. Living between New York & London where he has also been working as an actor for over 30 years.

The history and stories which books posses, not just within their pages, but from the numerous?owners, who have lovingly passed them to friends and loved ones throughout the years. McQueen explains:?"A book that has been passed down has had a life. Where has it been? Where has it travelled? Everyone who owns it has put their little stamp on it, like a tea mark, pencil scribbles, or folded page corners."

McQueen takes a humorous view of the popular artists in the current market. He has combined the iconic symbols of artists such as?Banksy?with popular imagery from?Harland Miller’s?satirical paintings of reimagined Penguin books. McQueen has created a collection of high quality and original pieces on canvas.

All of these incredible pieces are available on our?website.
