To Artists of The Future And The People Who've Caged Them

To Artists of The Future And The People Who've Caged Them

Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emily Dickinson. Virginia Woolf. Paracelsus.

Outcasts. Geniuses. Artists.

Back in the day when these people were creating art, it was pure self-expression. Do you think they were worried about being commercial? Maybe. But it seems they still shared their purest thoughts with us and made them into something timeless that is still relatable today.

There is a reason we still remember these amazing creators hundreds of years later.

The truth resonates. They were unique and specific in their dictation. They were unafraid to share new ideas and obtuse thoughts. They broke barriers of all kinds.

I think it is time to put the power into the creative's hands.

I think the new way should be letting the creator have authority in the stories they want to tell, and then the business people (left-brainers) can come in and help them market the stories in a way that is authentic and succinct.

We are in a dangerous time where people are trying to only recreate and recycle things from the past. What kind of fresh new perspectives does that bring for our futures? None. How will we inspire anyone by creating things for the masses?

We need to remember from the past revered artists that specificity and idiosyncrasies create long-lasting inspiration and change. This one-size-fits-all approach will only shrink the brain of our society as a whole.

We cannot predict commercial success. It is a fact. Because these predicting "machines" are modeled out of chaos theory, which has zero intuition.

The one thing that can lead to success is actually, intuition. Complexity. Randomness.

This is a direct taproot to audiences. It will connect with their soul. At a cellular level, these new unrestricted stories bred out of the crisp waters of imagination are what will speak to people's hearts.

If anything can guarantee luck or good timing it is the ultimate flow of the universe and the only way to key into that is to resonate with it. And that is to know yourself and write with your heart and soul. The moment we add logic or predictive behaviors into this it crumbles into what once was.

We are a society and an industry living from fear, not love.

And until we change that, starting with every one of us taking risks to do something different, things will stay the same.

It is the perfect time to build something new from courage.

We don’t need to know what people like. We need to share true stories that are specific to us and that will resonate with people because no matter what language we speak we all share the same emotions.

What we need to do is write stories that lend to brighter futures, that inspire people to know themselves. Stories that put the magic back in people's lives who are feeling so much pain to remind them why life is so beautiful no matter how you feel.

I hope, that raising capital for my next film instead of changing my story to suit a production company based on their analytics and perspectives, will inspire other filmmakers to do the same and take the power back into their creative storytelling and take that risk to reach the audience that they are meant to reach, which is so much more fulfilling. We need to save our own stories. No one is going to do it for us.

If you are reading this and have an interest in supporting this mission financially and being part of something new or even have words of encouragement feel free to message me!

Everyone has a right to tell their stories, and no matter how they do it I want to help inspire people to realize they don’t need to wait. They can take their destiny into their own hands and tell their story now, in whatever way is beneficial to them and their true audience.

I will leave you with four inspiring quotes from the people I started off this article with:

"Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Let us simmer over our incalculable cauldron, our enthralling confusion, our hotch-potch of impulses, our perpetual miracle — for the soul throws up wonders every second. Movement and change are the essence of our being; rigidity is death; conformity is death: let us say what comes into our heads, repeat ourselves, contradict ourselves, fling out the wildest nonsense, and follow the most fantastic fancies without caring what the world does or thinks or says."- Virginia Woolf
"I dwell in possibility." - Emily Dickinson
When a man undertakes to create something, he establishes a new heaven, as it were, and from it the work that he desires to create flows into him... For such is the immensity of man that he is greater than heaven and earth. - Paracelsus

Now ask yourself...who is caging who? Break free.

Dana Kippel Timely. I’ve been wrestling with actually following up on my dreams of writing stories about my ancestors and their involvement with slavery and the Civil War. Bringing my unique spirit to those stories. But, I know that I will need to write for me, and my spirit, not to try and please others. Those are the compelling stories that, in the end, do end up reaching others in truly meaningful ways. Thank you for your articles and posts. Inspiring.

https://youtu.be/9CrBqRb3VGM?si=Q0bSjrnBUt9dqnbw #RustyCage; there are - I feel many cages, most rusty... outdated, and perpetuated... the rust stays not matter where the prision is [in one mind, or another] You having control over the story you tell; and - this specific story that you've choosen to bring new life into, that's a gap between the bars, a space between expectations, and outcome - novelty. It has #Novelty Who else is doing it? No one... Dana Kippel my thoughts are it's a great idea; Inana.
