AN ARTIST'S CREDO

AN ARTIST'S CREDO

How the conceptual evolution of an artist can influence stylistic development To explain contemporary abstract painting is a challenge. A helpful approach is often an analogy with something in the real world, and this is how Prokop Igor Eugen a biologist turned teacher at the University of Applied Art Budapest, chooses to explain his practice. My oeuvre reflects the essence of my personality. I am interested in the Nobel prizewinning scientist Heisenberg who researched the interaction and complexities of atomic particles, finally surrendering to the belief in the existence of God as the creator of a system so complex, no other explanation can suffice. My work draws on what is happening to the Earth because of human intervention, and I paint these events to signify that at the beginning we had an active, colourful world - a world which is sustainable and must be sustained! As a teacher, I am trying to teach these basic principles of sustainable development. Where scientists have been researching and signalling the changes of the world, the arts can play a significant role, naturally, in positive changes! How important is philosophy in this ecosystem? I have studied Greek philosophy. Aristotle and Plato started asking crucial questions, like “Where are we from, where are we going, what are we?” The whole history of philosophy functions along with these principles in the same way as evolution coming into being during milliards of years when life on Earth started to emerge. How should we unite forces? Well, the best way of communication is the Internet. With this global network, we can transmit a message about our paintings through their content, quickly and efficiently. According to Heisenberg’s” Beyond Physics”, his principle “complete-incomplete”, says this can be realized by introducing changes locally. Each individual must be aware of his or her environment, his or her soul and thoughts, his or her evolutionary results, he or she must know and sense them to make favourable changes. If everyone on Earth, billiards of people, can accomplish this, then, hopefully, the coexistence with Nature will be solved on Earth. When something suffers a radical change in one direction, there is another factor in trying to balance it. This Entropy aspires to achieve such balance. My works communicate these laws authentic correlations collected during my travels.

Andy Warhol was Basquiat’s childhood friend, and so was Madonna and other famous people. I like his sarcasm; I like his cynicism, I like his youthful coolness, his outrageous, flicking mentality that made him able to attract attention. And I love this “animal instinct” of his coming from great depths of the subconscious. And, the way he depicts in his art the old tribal signs that sometimes show some quite frightening figures, skeletons, heads and roaring wolves. He drew pictures that have a profound, expressive effect on people. The roots originate from street art as he started as a graffiti artist and painted wall paintings on the walls of the New York metro lines. Keith Haring also did the same as he painted on walls that could talk to millions of people each day and communicate important emotions. The reactions were different. Evidently, for those who were used to painted apples, it was horrible. But his paintings were the results of an intense, psychological process. For me, they represent a connection with Nature. They produce similarly profound psychological results rooted there. You can make an influence on people by the pictures, by the systems rooted in these ancient, tribal signs. They make people deal with it at an ancient, instinctive level, and they even might direct people. The impressionists have had a significant effect on me, expressing the ancient dreams and desires of people through colours by making them see reality but not so pictorially as with Renaissance painting. Cezanne, Alfred Sisley and my favourite, Seurat, the pointillist, who pieced together Nature as he saw from three colours. This was based on physics (colour theory), that gives a complex picture from a distance, but if you look at it carefully, it is a world consisting of colourful points. By exaggerating the colours of Nature in my way, I still reflect Nature. Looking through a special set of glasses, with different colours and a filter (let’s say I filter out blue), the colour will be different. This is an excellent faculty for human beings. You must be able to transmit simple signs as I have done in my books: ANATOMY OF THE SOUL. DR. PROKOP ANATOMY, OLD DIARY and ILLITS PROPHECIES BOOK. They contain the genetic family origin, gain experiences from the memories and knowledge of our ancestors. "
