Itzhak Perlman, violin: Next week Perlman heads to Utah for back-to-back performances, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto at?Brigham Young University?on October 11 and 12 and his “Cinema Serenade” program with the?Utah Symphony?on October 14.

Joshua Bell, violin: Bell performed the U.S. Premiere of The Elements with the New York Philharmonic under Jaap van Zweden’s baton from September 30 to October 1, and next performs with the Atlanta Symphony on October 25 in a program featuring selections from The Elements and Bruch’s Violin Concerto.

Seong-Jin Cho, piano:?Seong-Jin Cho returned to North America this month for performances of Ravel’s?Left Hand Piano Concerto?with the Houston Symphony and Toronto Symphony and recitals at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood. In January 2024, he performs Ravel’s?Left Hand Piano Concerto?with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons in Boston and at Carnegie Hall.

James Gaffigan, conductor:?Gaffigan opened his third season at Valencia Opera with a concert on September 10 and leads the company's production of Tchaikovsky’s “Queen of Spades” from September 28 to October 21. His North American guest conducting appearances this Fall see him returning a second season in a row to the?Chicago Symphony Orchestra?from October 19 to 24 followed by appearances with the?Cincinnati Symphony?performing Wagner’s?The Ring Without Words?on October 27 and 28,?Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra?from November 3 to 5 and the?St. Louis Symphony Orchestra?on November 11 and 12.

Christian Reif, conductor:?Reif led the season opening of the Cincinnati Symphony on October 1 in a program of DeFalla, Bartók, and Stravinsky with featured soloist Clara Jumi-Kang. From October 11 to October 14, he leads a program of Grieg, Norman, Sibelius and Stookey for the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stockholm.

Cristian M?celaru, conductor:?M?celaru?conducted London's Philharmonia Orchestra?on September 28, 30 and October 1 with Nicola Benedetti and he leads the?St. Louis Symphony Orchestra?on October 13 and 15 in a program including the U.S. Premiere of Hannah Eisendle’s?heliosis?and works by Mozart and Brahms.

Wynton Marsalis, trumpet:?Marsalis had a strong presence in the Bay Area this month, first with his?Herald Holler and Hallelujah!?brass fanfare, which was performed by the San Francisco Symphony from September 29 to October 1. From September 30 to October 1, his?Violin Concerto?was performed by the California Symphony, and from October 1 and 2, Marsalis performed at the San Francisco Jazz Festival.

Orion Weiss, piano:?PR client Orion Weiss began this month performing with the Ariel Quartet on October 1 at the Schubert Club in St. Paul. He next completes a recital tour with violinist Austin Hadelich, beginning in Charlottesville, VA on October 10, before making his debut at the Royal Conservatory of Music on October 13, finishing at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on October 15. To cap off the month, he joins the North Carolina Symphony in Wilmington, NC from October 23 to October 27.

John Aylward, composer:?On October 7, Boston Modern Orchestra Project premiered PR client John Aylward’s piece,?Eternal Return, in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory. The program also featured world premiere works by Eric Moe and Richard Cornell, along with an East Coast premiere by Shelley Washington.

David T. Little, composer:?On October 14 and 15, Penn Live Arts presents the world premiere of PR client David T. Little’s?SIN-EATER, a theatrical and choral work based on themes of class, religion, and ritualistic practices. Earlier in the month, Chicago Opera Theatre presented?Soldier Songs, an earlier work by Little, at the Epiphany Center for the Arts on October 5.

Karen Slack, soprano:?PR client Karen Slack performs twice this month as Artist in Residence with Chamber Music Detroit on October 14 and October 15. The Pacifica Quartet joins Slack on October 14 for a program including pieces from Beethoven, Florence Price, Louis Gruenberg, and James Lee III, and on October 15, she performs her program,?Songs of Love and Justice, including pieces from Clayton White, Undine Smith Moore, Scott Gendel, and more.

Third Coast Percussion, ensemble:?On October 25, PR client Third Coast Percussion performs at Musikkollegium Winterthur in Switzerland in their European concerto debut. The program features three performances of of Christopher Cerrone’s?Meander, Spiral, Explode, Zoltán Kodály’s?Sommerabend, and Schubert’s?Sin Nr.4 c-Moll D417 “Tragische”.

American Composers Orchestra, ensemble:?PR client American Composers Orchestra hosts their second annual Creative Catalyst Awards on October 25 at Fogo de Ch?o in New York. Honoring Paquito D’Rivera, Dr. Indira Etwaroo, and Edward Yim, the evening will feature several performances and musical installations. The proceeds from the event benefit the ACO EarShot Composer Advancement Programs, orchestral performances, and other educational initiatives.

Apollo Chamber Players, ensemble:?PR client Apollo Chamber Players performed the world premiere of their program,?BANNED, in Houston on October 6. The performance featured Primo artist Allison Loggins-Hull and Houston-based composer Mark Buller, with a special discussion from University of Houston professor Howard Pollack about the banning and censorship of American composers during the McCarthy period.

Mary Elizabeth Bowden, trumpet:?PR client Mary Elizabeth Bowden begins the month with a tour with her Seraph Brass, starting with a recital at Abington Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania before joining the Van Buren Winds ensemble in Winchester, VA, on October 2. She next performed with the Chamber Music Society of Central Kentucky on October 8, followed by a masterclass and recital program at the University of Michigan on October 9 to October 10. Santiago Ca?ón-Valencia, cello:?PR client Santiago Ca?ón-Valencia performs at Teatro Monumental in Madrid on October 19 to October 20 with RTVE Orchestra, led by Fran?ois López-Ferrer in a program of Shostakovich’s?Cello Concerto No. 1.
