Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is getting a lot of attention these days. It's a technology with a potential to transform everything... I mean literally EVERYTHING. The importance of AI has risen among the investors and innovators. Considering it's importance, UAE appoints it's first minister of Artificial Intelligence and it's the first country to do so.

The sectors of transportation, healthcare, logistics, finance and industrial manufacturing, among a plethora of others, would undergo an immense transformation under the influence of AI and they would evolve to be more productive and cheap and, more importantly, provide better services.

The goal of Artificial Intelligence is to create the systems that could act like "Human Brain". Like we listen and learn to communicate in a language that is simply Speech Recognition. We can write and read in a language which is a field of NLP (Natural Language of Processing). We can see and process the information just like Image Processing. Although, Image Processing is not directly linked to AI but required for computer vision. We can recognize the pattern and manage to group the objects that are similar just like Pattern Recognition in AI. Machines are better at Pattern Recognition than us. They can analyse lots of data in order to predict something or categorize the predictions it made. For example, when you shop a dress online you see google ads of similar dress on most of web pages. That is AI of Machine Learning and it could help predict the future of that particular product, sales of that website and also categorize the user according to to their age, gender and other factors. This information helps that website in marketing, sales and promotional offers. Or Netflix which learns and understand our preferences and give suggestions accordingly. The automatic responses you see in LinkedIn is also a part of AI.

Industries like Google, Tesla and Amazon are making the fully into AI. Here are my few favorites:

Healthcare - Many people still think about robots from science-fiction movies but it is helping medical professionals in finding the answers of their questions. AI could help the entire healthcare industry in every aspect. It could save the time in research, analyze the data gathered, predict the health status and much more. There are 2 examples here first is Virtual Health assistant and another is Microsoft's Project Hanover:

Retail/ Etail - The Retail and Etail industry is already too much into AI. Amazon uses it in every step from handling the warehouse to sorting and shipping the product. Chatbots and virtual customer assistants allow retail companies to run a 24/7 customer service and answer basic questions without the involvement of human staff. Speech recognition and NLP on customer care calls helps reduce the complains.

Darwin Pricing uses the Artificial Neuro-networking to produce prices and sales campaign location wise.

Energy and Utilities - AI is still not that powerful in this sector but the goal is to provide cleaner and affordable energy to everyone. Many industries has started investing into the AI system particularly for this industry. The most popular implementations to watch out for are intelligent energy forecasts, data analytics for managing intermittent renewable generation, and this:

Travel & Tourism - From dynamic pricing to self flying planes, travel industry is making the most of AI. AI learns the preferences, budget and availability of user and suggests the best possible outcome.
