ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: SIMULATION OF HUMAN INTELLIGENCE

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: SIMULATION OF HUMAN INTELLIGENCE

With the drastic change in technology, our innovating world is moving forward with advancements. Artificial Intelligence is one of such innovation in technology that is key aspect of growth in today’s era. The ability of a computer programme to think and learn is referred to as artificial intelligence. Everything that includes a software accomplishing something that we would usually imagine would require the intelligence of a human is termed artificial intelligence.

John McCarthy, the “Father of Artificial Intelligence,” coined the word “artificial intelligence" when he proposed a summer workshop on the issue at Dartmouth College in 1956, along with Marvin Minsky and Claude Shannon. McCarthy described AI as "the science and engineering of creating intelligent machines." Later, he invented the?programming language LISP, hosted computer chess games against?Russian human?opponents, and built the first computer with "hand-eye" ability, all of which were crucial building blocks for AI.

?AI is classified into three sub types:

? Weak AI - Concentrates on a single task and it cannot?perform beyond its limits

? Strong AI - Can perceive and learn any intellectual task that a person can do

? Super AI - Exceeds human intelligence and is capable of performing any task better than a human being

Whether you're excited, fascinated, or concerned about the advent of artificial intelligence, it's beginning to appear in a variety of fields, including marketing and is already playing an important role in medical, science, engineering, advertising, and data analysis.

?It is now a technology for the present as well as the future, with its full set of potential still to come. Despite being quite advanced in the grand scheme of things, it is still a fairly immature technology in its current form, with plenty of space for future improvement and invention. As technology become more intertwined into human lives, the potential for AI grows by the day. As our expectations of technology and machines grow, AI enables them to meet and even exceed them.

AI is now present in a variety of ways around us. A prominent illustration of AI in the consumer sphere - drives home automation assistants but industrial uses are nearly as prevalent.

Here are some of the benefits and drawbacks of artificial intelligence:

NO ERROR

Computers, on the other hand, if properly programmed, do not make errors. Artificial intelligence uses a set of algorithms to make decisions based on previously collected data. As a result, errors are decreased, and the possibility of greater precision and accuracy occurs.

OVERCOME RISKY LIMITATION

We can overcome many of humanity's risky restrictions by constructing an AI robot that can do the risky activities for us. It can be utilised effectively in every type of natural or human-made disaster, whether it is defusing a bomb, exploring the deepest oceans, going Mars or mining for coal. Contribution of AI in this domain is remarkable.

BOON FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Smartphones and other household devices are increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence. Virtual assistants, such as Alexa, Siri, and Cortana, can do everything from make a phone call to navigate the internet. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can listen to voicemail messages or other media. Wheelmap gives information regarding wheelchair accessibility to users. In addition, Evelity provides users with interior navigation capabilities that are tailored to their specific needs, such as audio or text instructions and wheelchair-accessible routes.

AUTOMATION OF REPETITIVE TASK

Repetitive tasks are monotonous and can be completed with the assistance of machine intelligence. Computers can think faster than a human and accomplish multiple tasks at the same time. It can be used to perform dangerous activities, and its characteristics can be changed. Humans cannot do this since their speed and time cannot be calculated using parameters.

MEDICAL APPLICATIONS

This is the most favourable thing AI has done for mankind. It is claimed that time and tide wait for no one, but medical applications of artificial intelligence have a broad scope application. Doctors use artificial machine intelligence and surgery simulations to assess patients and their health risks. It employs an application that aids in the detection and monitoring of neurological problems as well as the stimulation of brain activities. This is also beneficial in radiosurgery.

24X7 AVAILABILITY

A typical human will perform for 4–6 hours per day, excluding rests. Humans are designed in such a way that they may take some time off to renew themselves and prepare for a new day of work, and they even have weekly off to keep up with their work-life and personal life. But, unlike humans, we can use AI to make machines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no breaks.

Elon Musk recently stated that "AI would surpass its human creators in intelligence within the next five years." He warns that if it is not properly regulated, it may be more harmful than nuclear weapons. Tesla, Elon's autonomous vehicle manufacturing company, on other hand, recently developed their own Artificial Intelligence based?chips for their self-driving cars.

Everything in excess is considered dangerous, and Artificial Intelligence is no exception. Here are a few cons of AI-

EXPENSIVE

True, AI has a high valuation, and there is no such thing as a free meal. Because it is a complicated machine, it necessitates exorbitant prices. Aside from the installation fee, the cost of repair and maintenance is exorbitant. Machines require repair and maintenance, which incurs significant costs and they are ?complicated machinery, their construction necessitates exorbitant prices.

UNEMPLOYMENT

This is the most dangerous and can have serious consequences. Human-intensive requirements have decreased in various industries due to capital-intensive technologies. If humans do not improve their talents in the future, we can expect them to be replaced by machines under no time. As AI replaces the majority of monotonous?tasks and other duties with machines, human interference is decreasing, which will present a significant challenge in employee rights.

LAZY BEHAVIOUR IN HUMANS

The majority of?repetitive operations are automated by AI technologies. We use our brains less and less since we don't have to memorize stuff or solve riddles to get the task done. Subsequent generations may face challenges because of this AI obsession.

NO ETHICS AND EMOTIONS

Ethics are important human traits that can be difficult to include into artificial intelligence. The rapid growth of AI has spurred fears that it would one day grow out of control and annihilate humanity. When it comes to working, machines are clearly more productive, but they cannot replace human bond that binds a team altogether. Machines are unable to build relationships with humans, which is a key feature of teamwork.

AI CAN MAKE BIASED DECISIONS

AI to generate choices and forecasts uses data. That information could be skewed, either intentionally or unintentionally. If it does, an AI system could decide things that are prejudiced against specific groups or individuals.

Some argue that if artificial intelligence falls into the wrong hands, it could demolish human civilization. No AI programme developed at that scale, however, is capable of?enslaving humankind. Every new breakthrough?will have both benefits and drawbacks, but it is up to us as humans to balance them out and employ the positive aspects of the creation to make the world a better place. Artificial intelligence (AI) has many potential benefits. AI may eventually be a part of every industry, so understanding the pros and cons will help you plan for the future.
