Artificial Intelligence Redefined: OpenAI Ushers in a New Era for ChatGPT

A few weeks ago, Dev Day, the first OpenAI developer conference was held. This original edition left nothing to be desired.

For almost a year now, we've been using models like ChatGPT to add AI capabilities to our clients' products and processes. Like any newly introduced technology, it came with more limitations than the possibilities we could envision. But the announcements that were made by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are now eliminating some of them.

ChatGPT can now see, hear, and speak. It's now possible to show it a picture, voice a question, and expect a spoken response. For example, someone can take a picture of the contents of their refrigerator and ask GPT what ingredients are missing for a particular recipe.

Quantity limits are beginning to disappear. Using it for business, it's important to provide the AI model with the proper information so that it may generate an optimal response. For example, consider the case of a chatbot tasked with answering questions about a product. It is crucial to provide the model with the product’s context, its features and limitations, so that it can answer accurately. Now, with the quantity of information you feed ChatGPT increasing from about 6 pages to 300 pages, it will be possible to train a model with much greater precision.

Assistants are now among us. There's no doubt that the future of AI lies in assistants (or agents). OpenAI is taking a first step in that direction by enabling the creation of small specialized applications, called GPTs, that can be used from within ChatGPT. In her presentation, Jessica Shieh , an AI solution architect, uses an application developed by Zapier that allows her to manage her calendar and send Slack messages to people that need to be aware of updates from within the GPT.

An assistant marketplace for ChatGPT. OpenAI has announced an assistant marketplace for ChatGPT. The company is betting that its ChatGPT platform will become an ecosystem where all developers will contribute to expanding its capabilities, similar to the App Store for the iPhone. It will be possible for organizations and individuals to publish their assistants and allow all users to use them directly from ChatGPT. We can imagine applications for recipes, travel, news and productivity... the possibilities are limitless!
