Artificial Intelligence – Is it Real?

Artificial Intelligence – Is it Real?

Haha, silly question you might say!

Well, last night, I woke up in the middle of the night, and sat bolt upright in bed – not exactly in a state of panic, but certainly one of concern. Inexplicably, my mind had been engulfed in a wave of uncertainty about just where this AI juggernaut is taking us.

In the early days, when the whole concept of artificial intelligence was slowly drifting off the pages of Sci-Fi scripts and into the development laboratories of the tech giants, I guess I had some reservations. Well, that gentle ripple has now become a tsunami.

Yes, in those early stages, I was determined to hang on to the notion that the one thing that sets the human brain above all other living things was a thing called “imagination” – that wonderful subconscious quality that can not only ?drive our immune system to fight our internal biological threats, but use our wonderfully unique belief system to overcome our fear of external danger … by escaping reality and transporting us into a protective ?virtual world.

Not sure if I totally embrace the “right brain/left brain” thing, but I did feel that, while we could fairly easily replicate the so-called left side of the brain to take care of the process and procedural rationale aspects, we would surely have no hope of ever writing algorithms which could handle to sheer unpredictability, spaciousness, and vagueness – that daunting (almost spiritual) complexity which must cloud the logic-deprived, emotion-driven right side.

Even though we seem to have conquered voice recognition, even developed face and body recognition to a useable level, will we ever really be able to come to terms with brain recognition? ?

My jury is still out on this question. Am I missing something here, or is this little old brain of mine just simply too left-handed?

Oh boy, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it … comments please!

AI is computers learning from humans history without understanding that humans say the same thing in different ways, with different meanings. I asked AI if the Matrix is real, it said no, of course. I'll have to see what it says about Skynet.... Always keep the power plug easily accessible. Haha
