Over the course of the last two years, we have written several times about the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it will not only make legal work faster but also more efficient. Artificial intelligence is not just purely for simple tasks; it can also help attorneys practice more effectively. AI has the revolutionary ability to help attorneys do their due diligence.

For instance, it can process a large amount of data in a short amount of time or use prediction technology to predict the outcome of litigation. Certain programs can help search for trends and patterns by jurisdiction or even by the individual judge. Truly AI is nothing new, but it is getting smarter, easier to use, and applicable to more situations.

Largely Untapped

As noted in Thomson Reuter’s article, much of the AI world remains untapped. There are areas in every practice that could be improved with the use of AI, but we haven’t quite gotten there yet.

Legal tech companies, however, are quick to fill the gaps. Startups that are leveraging AI are gathering billions in funding and have no plans of stopping. From platforms that draft contracts to programs that can analyze those contracts and potential risks. Undoubtedly there is room to grow in the arena.
