A DAY ON THE ROAD IN Not so Distant Future MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE THIS!
On a sunny Sunday morning, you’re ready for some family time to the nearest picnic ground with a barbeque on your mind. The rental vehicle—let’s call it “ECAS” (Electrified, Connected, Autonomous, and Shared)—that you ordered the previous night arrives. So you enter it and the first thing ECAS does is wish you a happy anniversary. Next, it shares social media wishes from family and friends through its IVI system. As you enjoy the drive and the wishes, ECAS starts to drive to your destination while informing you of the weather information, driving routes, and upcoming traffic issues. Ohh, and also while this is happening, ECAS quickly checks your house in case the TV or other appliances were left on and downloads the favorite playlist from Spotify you listened to earlier. ECAS even suggests the most appropriate picnic spot at the destination.
When you arrive near your destination, ECAS drops you off at a convenient point to walk to the picnic spot and stores new learnings or personal preferences in your mobility profile before wishing you a good day.?ECAS communicates with the local Theatre where the movie, which your kids wanted to watch is been played and books tickets for the evening en route to home.
It feels like right out of some Science Fiction movie; right? Thanks to emerging technologies such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and more; many personalized features are already been included in present-day mobility devices. Innovative mobility services including the ones discussed above are expected to be a reality in not so far a future than we realize.
