I don't believe you will find many publications/articles on LinkedIn have these two words together in the title. It is a perfect combination of finesse and mystique. If none of my other rumblings are to make an impact on the world this surely must.
During Thanksgiving break I took my sons skiing to Mt. Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. Beautiful place. Very French. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well and had to stay one full day in my hotel room with no entertainment other than my phone.?YouTube is my thing. There is quality content if you know what you are looking for. But I was shocked when the first commercial that came up was in French. I thought, “Okay, they know my location even though Apple promised me some privacy.” But then it went on and on. Every single commercial in French. French toothpaste, some orange juice of questionable origin but very magnifique, and to top it off French detergent. I'm ashamed to admit it but my relationship with my washing machine at home is very distant and somebody?trying to convince me to buy some French detergent seemed extreme. YouTube has all my video history - things like crossbows, crusades, java, chess [the standard] - and it thinks I am in the market for French detergent. Odd.?
The algorithm and all of the computer power behind YouTube and Google couldn't figure out that I'm just a guy visiting Canada for Thanksgiving and, as much as I love the culture and the language, my French is limited to a few basic words.?
This is where we are in 2022. Folks talk about AI and ML and there are some interesting developments in image processing and language processing, but if anybody can tell me that AI is a solution to a real problem now, I would have the same reaction as watching a 30 second advert about French detergent.?

It would be good to uncover what is really happening behind the privacy struggles, the need for more personalized content, and the great computing power on the cloud trying to influence our lives. We are still Neanderthals playing with fire and thinking we are masters of the universe.?
Bonsoir.
