Artificial Intelligence That Deceives

Artificial Intelligence That Deceives

Attention all Data Scientists, AI Experts and Machine Learning Engineers!

Are you ready to add a new feather to your cap? Because the world of deepfakes is calling your name, and it's time to answer the call.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, deepfakes are artificially generated videos and audio that can make it appear as if someone said or did something they didn't. Famously called, AI that deceives. This technology is making leaps and bounds in terms of realism and believability, and data scientists and security experts will have to work together to minimize the threat of deepfakes.

As a data science recruitment consultant, I'm here to tell you that companies are scrambling to get their hands on experts in deepfake technology. Although niche, the demand for this skill is skyrocketing and is only going to continue to grow.

But, before you start polishing your resume, let's talk about the darker side of this technology. Deepfakes can be used for nefarious purposes like spreading misinformation or creating fake news. The implications can be pretty terrifying, and it's up to our data scientists, AI and security experts to put a stop to it.

Below, is a roundtable discussion including some pretty famous faces - but five out of the six were deepfakes. One of the main purposes of deepfakes is to influences viewers and listeners to believe something that is not true, or has not happened.

Before you start panicking, let's not forget about the potential benefits of deepfakes. Imagine being able to create a realistic virtual assistant that can hold an entire conversation. Or, think of the possibilities for special effects in movies and video games. The possibilities are endless.

The industry is always changing, and changing fast! It's a big moment for artificial intelligence. And again, we see the intersection of cybersecurity and AI, with the threat of deepfakes.

DS/AI & Security experts should use their skills and knowledge to develop ethical guidelines and best practices for using deepfakes, work together to detect and prevent their malicious uses, and embrace the potential benefits of this technology to push the boundaries of what's possible in the field of AI.
