Artificial intelligence is here to stay: Are we prepared?

In the 1940s, a series of short stories by American science fiction writer Isaac Asimov set out his ‘Rules of Robotics.’ Published in 1950 as a collection, ‘I, Robot’ allowed robots with AI to protect their existence, but they could not do so if that harmed a human.

Today, the specter of AI and a Terminator-like future is prompting some, like Elon Musk, the American business magnate, to call AI the greatest threat to humanity, thus suggesting the need for ‘Rules for AI.

Since AI has the potential to shape the pension and benefits landscape, the industry must be prepared for these changes, and the governance, legal, and regulatory implications that may arise.

To help do so, a CPBI online session moderated by Kevin Press, principal at Kevin Press Communications, featuring an expert panel of Ana Garcia, director - risk quantification division at OSFI (Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI); Heather Whiteside, associate at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP; and Jason Averbook, senior partner and global leader, Digital HR Strategy at Mercer; will address the specific impact and implications of AI for the industry. They will share their perspectives from human resources, legal, and regulatory points of view to enlighten fiduciaries, plan sponsors, and individuals who have a governance role in plans and those advising them in this emerging area.

This exclusive CPBI webinar takes place on November 21. For more information and to register, visit https://www.cpbi-icra.ca/Events/Details/National/2023/11-21-Artificial-intelligence-is-here-to-stay-Are
