This article is on the Kochi Method theory for the sternocleidomastoid.
There are 2 starting point for this muscle, the clavicle and the sternum.
Which then connects to the mastoid process on the skull.
What's important to note is that it has 2 starting points.
We think this is because it needs 2 sets of muscles for support, which means this muscle is used very frequently.
It's very tired which is why it gets hard easily.
The sternocleidomastoid is linked to the sartorius, located at the front thigh.
The sartorius is involved in knee pains.
People with knee pains tend to have hardened or weakened sartorius.
By using Kochi Method techniques to treat the sternocleidomastoid it cases a reflexive effect on the sartorius, indirectly relieving symptoms like knee pain.
