Article-23 A Good Revit Model

Hello, Connections,

From the previous two-three articles, we have been discussing the features of a good Revit Model. In this article, we will continue with the same. This would be the last article in this series, then we will continue with some more Autodesk Products like Inventor which is also widely used in the CAD-CAM industry.

In the last article, we discussed how to locate the project base point in a Revit Model. We will discuss one more step here i.e. How to create a standard plan view and relevant underlays.

?First of all, we need to create the plan views that are required (provided they were not automatically generated when creating the Levels. to create a new Plan View, do the following:

Click?View → Plan Views → Floor Plan.

Select?the?levels?that you want to?generate?the?Plan Views?from (You may see nothing if they were all automatically created. If you want to create a second view that is associated with a level, you can untick the “do not duplicate existing view”?

Now that you have all your required views, it is time to assign your Underlays on each view – this will make working between the views far easier as you can choose to see a level above/below, which can expedite setting out exercises and improve drafting alignment accuracy between elements. Let’s take the Ground Floor as an example – and say that we want to see the Foundation Level Below as the underlay.

Last but not least, a lot of documentation can be found on the internet regarding a good Revit Model. This was just an attempt to make you understand the working of a Revit Model.

So, see you in the next article, where we try to explore Autodesk Inventor from the basic to the advanced level. Please don't forget to subscribe to our weekly Newsletters on the AEC industry.
